IN WHOSE SIGHT DO YOU WANT TO BE RIGHT?

Dearly beloved in the Lord

The scene that played out in the video is fictional and one that many found funny. Let me now share a real life story reported by news media recently.

A British rock band consisting of vocalist and pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer and percussionist Will Champion, and manager Phil Harvey called COLDPLAY was having a concert in Boston on July 16th 2025. The then‑CEO and the  Chief People Officer of a Tech startup were unexpectedly featured on the stadium’s “kiss cam” in a close embrace. The moment quickly turned awkward—they attempted to hide their faces once they realized they were being broadcast. Chris Martin, playfully quipped, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” which only heightened attention.

The clip went viral on social media drawing widespread scrutiny. Online sleuths soon identified the couple, noting that both were married to other people and held influential roles within the same company sparking an intense debate about ethics, workplace boundaries, and corporate culture. In response, the company placed both executives on leave and launched a formal internal investigation which finally resulted in the replacement of the CEO

In a world increasingly focused on appearances and public opinion, people are more concerned with what others think of them than with what is truly right. Jolted by this real‑world case that encapsulates how a private—or semi‑private—moment can suddenly turn public many have been led to be increasingly careful in the way they commit their misdeeds, being bothered only about being caught or judged by others.

However, there is a greater awareness that is required – that while human judgment is limited and often flawed, God, whose judgment is perfect and just, sees us, and everything that concerns us at all times – even our thoughts and intentions.

This is an awareness that shifts our focus from reputation to righteousness and challenges us to be honest even when no one is watching. It also leads to repentance, humility and true character growth bringing a higher moral standard, rooted in sincerity and integrity.

The greatest reward of living right in God’s sight is the peace that it brings because of a clear conscience and the assurance of an eternity with God – something that outward appearances that hide a guilty heart can never bring.

Loads of love and lots of prayer
